We're Going on a Bear Hunt

What a beautiful day! We went on a bear hunt the other day, after making all the areas they talk about in the book. We listened to the author reading the book over the week and read the words with him. We used the book as our big book for the week so that we knew all the words by the time we were up to our drama.
On Thursday, we created all the different stations: the grass, the river, mud, jungle, snowstorm and the cave. After we made these, it was time for our bear hunt! We got the bring teddies to school today as well and they hid in the cave, waiting for us to find them. Mrs Yates and Mrs Lydiard were very busy and didn't have much time to take photos but here are a few so that you can see what we were doing. You can also click on this link to watch one of the authors reading the story.

Boat Making!

We had a great morning one Tuesday making boats. We had a range of different containers and children worked in pairs to create and decorate their boats. Once they had made them, we tried them out in a big tub of water outside. We wanted to know if our boats were strong enough to carry some teddies in them, so we had a go. We were very impressed with our strong our boats were and how many teddies they could carry! Some children tried to make rafts as well and what we learnt is that the rafts made from sticks were not as strong as the boats made from containers. Mrs Yates and Mrs Lydiard were very busy and didn't get the chance to take many photos but here are some to help you see what we were doing!

20 Day Celebration!

We had a great celebration when we had been at school for 20 days. We spent our morning outside, making the courts very colourful! We used chalk to draw lots of pictures all over. We worked together with our friends to create some wonderful stories with our chalk and had lots of fun. When we had finished drawing with our chalk, we even got to play in the sandpit! Aren't we lucky?! We have loved being at school for 20 days and we are looking forward to our next celebration.
